IONA's platform had traction but serious usability issues. Users couldn't find what they needed in the data heavy interface. The app worked but didn't communicate its value clearly, making it hard to demonstrate impact to investors.
Restructured the entire information architecture using card sorting and user flow analysis. Reformatted complex medical data into scannable, prioritized views. Built wireframes in Figma focused on progressive disclosure. Show what matters now, details on demand. Created a design system in React and TypeScript that worked for both patient facing and clinical views. Used Tailwind CSS for consistent styling across the platform. The new structure made IONA's impact immediately visible.
The redesigned product helped IONA raise £2M in their funding round. Investors could finally see the platform's value in demos. User feedback shifted from confusion to clarity. The improved data presentation became a key differentiator in their market positioning.
